Teo jube
DECORAH UNITED SOCCER CLUB COACHING DIRECTOR
"Teo Jube is dedicated to inspiring passion, developing players, and building a strong soccer community—one game at a time."
Passion for the Game, Dedication to Development
Born and raised in Brazil, Teo Jube has lived and breathed soccer from the moment he could walk. With childhood memories of playing beach soccer as early as two years old, his passion for the sport has only grown stronger over the years. His journey in soccer led him to the United States in 2015, where he pursued his dream of playing at a high level while earning a quality education. Teo played collegiate soccer at Luther College for three years, achieving remarkable success. His time at Luther was highlighted by two Conference Tournament Championships, a Regular Conference Title, and two appearances in the NCAA National Tournament, including an unforgettable run to the Elite 8 in 2018.
Teo transitioned into coaching seamlessly, first as an Assistant Coach at Luther College, where he helped guide the team to another Elite 8 appearance in the NCAA National Tournament in 2019. His coaching journey then took him back to Brazil, where he worked at ID Sports, a soccer academy dedicated to preparing young athletes for opportunities to play in the U.S. He coached both boys and girls, ranging from U14 to U20, helping them develop their skills and achieve their dreams.
In the fall of 2022, Teo returned to the United States to work as an Assistant Coach at Upper Iowa University. However, his heart remained in Decorah, and in January 2023, he officially took on the role of Director of Coaching at Decorah United Soccer Club. In addition to leading the club, he also serves as a Co-Head Coach for the Decorah High School Girls Soccer Program and as a Fitness Coach/Assistant Coach for the Luther College Men’s Soccer Team.
Coaching Philosophy and Approach
Teo holds an ATFA (Argentinian Football Association) B License, a D License from the United States Soccer Federation (USSF), and a Director of Coaching Diploma from United Soccer Coaches. These certifications have helped him shape a coaching philosophy that blends the joy and creativity of Brazilian soccer with the structure and competitiveness of Argentine and American coaching methodologies.
His approach emphasizes learning through play, with a focus on guided discovery. For Teo, soccer is more than just a sport—it’s about smiles, passion, bravery, respect, and empathy. He believes that young athletes learn best by being immersed in the game itself rather than isolated drills. By incorporating defenders and game-like scenarios into every practice, players develop decision-making skills in a natural and enjoyable way.
Training Structure and Player Development
At Decorah United, training sessions are structured to ensure that players of all skill levels have the opportunity to grow and improve. Sessions begin with Intentional Free Play, where players engage in small-sided confrontation games (1v1, 2v1, 2v2, etc.), allowing them to explore different techniques and strategies in a fun, low-pressure setting.
Next comes the Decision-Making Phase, where players refine their tactical awareness within larger game contexts. The session concludes with full-game scenarios, where athletes apply what they’ve learned in a competitive but supportive environment. By prioritizing enjoyment and creativity, Teo fosters a love for the game that motivates players to push themselves and develop naturally.
Vision for Decorah United Soccer Club
Teo’s goal for Decorah United Soccer Club is clear: to create a welcoming environment where every child in Northeast Iowa has the opportunity to fall in love with soccer while developing both as athletes and as individuals. He believes that soccer should teach life values such as respect, empathy, bravery, passion, and competitiveness—qualities that extend far beyond the field.
His vision is to grow the club into a hub for soccer development in the region, where players are encouraged to be themselves, take risks, and improve in a positive and encouraging atmosphere.
Fostering Teamwork and Sportsmanship
Teo understands that pressure and stress can often hinder young athletes from fully enjoying the game. At Decorah United, he prioritizes minimizing that pressure by creating an environment where players can simply play, learn, and enjoy. By allowing kids to develop their skills naturally through play and guided discovery, the club fosters teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive playing experience that builds confidence both on and off the field.
A Message to Players and Parents
For those considering Decorah United Soccer Club, Teo has a simple but important message: this is a safe space where kids can be kids. Soccer should be a joyful experience filled with friendships, creativity, and personal growth. Whether a player dreams of competing at the highest levels or simply wants to enjoy the game with their peers, Decorah United is the perfect place to develop skills, make lasting memories, and embrace the beautiful game.
